Rata Toru - Let's Celebrate Mother Mary!

Our Rata Toru Tamariki celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on Tuesday by attending mass in the fale and making their own paper statues of Mother Mary as well as creating their own art pieces. She is a taonga to us all.

Rata Toru - Trip to Te Papa

Tuesday was an exciting day for Rata Toru Students. We visited Te Papa as a beginning to our Connected learning. Aotearoa's history is a taonga for everyone to share.

Rata Toru - It's raining.....again!

Rata Toru Students spent a lot of time in class due to the cold and rain. Here are some of the highlights of our week.

Rata Toru - New Beginnings!

What a wonderful week the tamariki of Rata Toru have had.  The transition of students from Rata Rua to our class has gone smoothly and all tamariki have settled in and are enjoying their new surroundings. The older children are magnificent role models for the younger students and have been helping them to learn the new procedures and routines in class. Thank you to the parents and caregivers who have come in to visit and meet the teacher!

Matariki comes to Rata Toru!

Ngā mihi o te tau hou! Happy New Year!
Matariki is a time to prepare; to learn, to share ideas, and to celebrate the future. Just as the Northern Hemisphere prepares for spring and growth on the 1st of January, during its New Year celebrations, Matariki is our time.

Matariki (Maori New Year) began on the 25th June and Rata Toru Tamariki spent a week celebrating by singing waiata, dancing, listening to stories, talking about our whanau, and making Matariki stars.
